JAYS, which stands for Juffureh Albreda Youths Society is a fully registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in The Gambia. The organization was formed by the youths of the twin villages of Juffureh and Albreda in the North Bank Region of the Gambia over two decades ago.
JAYS began when Alex Haley discovered “Juffureh” as the home of “Kunta Kinteh” and wrote a book called ROOTS, which leads to the Roots Home Coming Festival that became a profound creational or social event which attracts over five thousand (5000) people yearly within six regions in the Gambia and diaspora alike. The headquarter at Albreda, Upper Nuimi.
